Who we are
Freedom from Fear
With over 40 years of experience in personal protection and safety, F3Defense was founded by Michael Mercer, a retired police officer and US Navy veteran, with a mission to safeguard individuals, families, businesses, and law enforcement personnel from dangerous encounters with innovative defense technology.
Our Origin
F3Defense emerged from a profound incident in Bangor, Maine, where a mother and her three children found themselves trapped in a minivan surrounded by violent protesters. This harrowing event underscored the urgent need for effective protection in vulnerable situations, leading to the development of our world-renowned Mobile Pepper Spray Deployment Systems. Our patented systems, available in the US and South Africa, provide non-lethal means to escape and manage dangerous encounters.
Our goal at F3Defense is clear: to design, manufacture, and distribute cutting-edge defense and tactical solutions. Our team consists of industry veterans with over 60 years of combined experience in law enforcement, executive protection, and systems solutions. We are committed to establishing F3Defense as the leader in next-generation, less-than-lethal defense systems.
Michael Mercer | F3 Defense Founder
“No one expects to be mobbed. No one expects to be mobbed when driving. This doesn't happen in America. Having your car surrounded by a dangerous group of people stopping your movement with the intent to harm you is unimaginable; it just doesn't happen here. These random acts of violence happen some place else. Not America. Not Maine. And not your town either. This is what I always thought, but not true. The America we have all known is shifting and random mob violence is becoming more and more commonplace. It is happening everywhere and happening in our streets. It happened to me when I was driving the streets of Bangor, Maine with my three young kids; we were suddenly surrounded by an angry Black Lives Matter mob refusing to allow us to proceed. They were threatening and screaming angry obscenities at myself and my young children. The Police were on the scene and elected not to respond fearing a response would incite the mob further. How do you defend yourself in a scene like this?” - Gina L.
